Laser Beam Profiler Software: IZAK’s Application for Any Imager and Laser

IZAK Beam Profiler application on PC in beam profiler measurements

In short

  • One application, many imagers. The IZAK beam profiler application works with a broad range of imagers, so it can profile UV, visible and IR lasers.
  • Real-time numbers and camera control. Beam size, location, roundness and azimuth update live, with integration time, frame rate and other camera settings in the same window.
  • Help with the hardware. IZAK engineers help choose the imager and design the optical set-up around it.
  • From software to a full tester. Use the application as is, integrate it through an API (DLL), or have IZAK build a complete production-line tester. 60-day money-back guarantee.

Laser beam analysis with the IZAK application

Precise beam profiling is essential in laser research, development and quality control. IZAK Scientific’s laser beam profiler application is built to work with any imager, and therefore with almost any laser. This article explains what it measures, how IZAK helps you choose the imager and optics, and the ways to deploy it, from a desktop application to a production-line tester.

Tailored to every laser, every need

The main strength of the application is universal compatibility. It adapts to UV, visible and IR lasers, a flexibility that matters in a field where precision is essential and laser applications vary so widely.

Expert consultation for imager selection

Not sure which imager to use? The IZAK team uses its optical-systems expertise to match an imager to your laser’s specifications and to the application. The main questions are the wavelength, whether the laser is CW or pulsed, the beam size at the measurement plane and the power or energy that reaches the sensor. The tool below runs the first checks.

Customizing your optical set-up

Profiling accuracy depends on the whole optical set-up, not only on the software: attenuation, beam sampling, imaging or beam-reducing optics and the mechanical mount all affect the result. IZAK’s consultation services include designing and optimizing the optical system for your application. For complete systems, see electro-optical system design and development.

Tool

Will this imager work for your beam?

Enter the laser wavelength, the beam diameter at the sensor and the imager’s pixel pitch and width in pixels. For accurate second-moment (ISO 11146) widths, aim for at least 10 pixels across the beam and keep the beam under about one third of the sensor width.

Key features of the beam profiler application

01Universal compatibility

Works with a broad range of imagers, for different types of lasers.

02Real-time analysis

Immediate feedback on beam size, beam location, roundness and azimuth for adjustment and process control on the fly, plus imager configuration: integration time, frame rate and the other camera settings the imager allows.

03User-friendly interface

Designed so that complex beam analysis is easy for every user.

04Advanced measurement capabilities

A full range of beam characteristics, including beam diameter, beam shape and power distribution.

05Data logging and reporting

Every measurement is logged for quality assurance and in-depth analysis, and the data can be exported for reports and further study.

Logged data is also the starting point for trend analysis; see AI analytics for laser beam profiling. For the meaning of each beam parameter, see The Essentials of Laser Beam Profiling.

A commitment to customer satisfaction

IZAK stands behind the quality and performance of the application with a 60-day money-back guarantee. If you are not completely satisfied, we will work with you to resolve the problem.

API or additional custom software development

The application is also offered as an application programming interface (API) in a dynamic link library (DLL). Advanced users can integrate the beam-profiling algorithms into their own software for tailored functionality and automation.

IZAK can also build a complete tester: the beam profiler plus any other tests you specify for the full system, beyond the laser beam properties. Such a tester is made for production lines, so every product can be tested before it ships. You choose between the standalone API and a fully developed tester; see also TriBeam Precision, which measures beam profile, power or energy and pulse shape in one system.

Conclusion: a partner in your laser work

IZAK Scientific aims to be a partner in your laser work, not only a technology provider. The beam profiler application and IZAK’s other measurement tools serve scientists, engineers and technicians, from academic research to industrial manufacturing, with versatility, precision, customer satisfaction and expert help in configuring the optical set-up.

Frequently asked questions

QDoes the IZAK beam profiler application work with my camera?
It is designed to work with a broad range of imagers for UV, visible and IR lasers. Send us the imager and the laser parameters and we will confirm compatibility, or recommend an imager and optics.
QCan I integrate the beam profiling algorithms into my own software?
Yes. The application is available as an API in a DLL, so the algorithms can run inside your own software and automation. IZAK can also deliver a complete production-line tester.
QHow many pixels should the beam cover?
At least about 10 pixels across the 1/e² diameter, and no more than about one third of the sensor width, for accurate ISO 11146 second-moment widths.
