Description
Fast high-voltage switcher for driving Pockels cells and other electro-optic crystals. 0–15 kV output, rise time below 5 ns, up to 100 kHz continuous and 3 MHz in burst mode, with output jitter below 500 ps.
Applications
Pockels cell driving
Switches the crystal between voltage states to rotate polarization on command. Output up to 15 kV for quarter-wave or half-wave operation, depending on the crystal.
Q-switching
Holds off lasing while the gain medium stores energy, then opens the cavity to release a short, intense pulse. A rise time below 5 ns opens the cavity cleanly.
Pulse picking
Selects single pulses or pulse groups from a high-repetition-rate train. Burst mode up to 3 MHz and jitter below 500 ps keep the gate locked to the pulse timing.
Key specifications
| Output voltage | 0 – 15 kV |
|---|---|
| Rise time | < 5 ns |
| Switching frequency, continuous | up to 100 kHz |
| Burst frequency | up to 3 MHz |
| Output jitter | < 500 ps |
| Output current | up to 10 mA (typ. 5 mA) |
| Trigger | Isolated switch / trigger input |
| Monitoring | Built-in current measurement; HV probe (0–10 V range) read by the software |

Control software
The switcher comes with a software application that includes a signal generator for modulating the high-voltage output. Current measurement and the high-voltage probe feed the same software, so you can monitor and sample the output in real time while the switcher runs.
What’s included
- 1.5 m high-voltage cable
- 15 kV high-voltage connector
- High-voltage BNC interface
- High-voltage probe and control software
Configurations
- Complete system with integrated power supply
- Standalone switcher, powered from an external source
Customization and support
Every electro-optic setup is different. If you need another voltage range, a different trigger scheme or a driver matched to a specific crystal, our engineers can adapt the switcher to your application. Contact us to discuss your requirements or to request a demo.
